  3. The Go 229 easily satisfied Herman
  4. Goering's general specification that all 
  5. new aircraft should carry 1,000 kilograms 
  6. of bombs, fly 1,000 kilometers per hour, 
  7. and have a "penetration depth" (one-third 
  8. the total range) of 1,000 kilometers.  
  9. Had this aircraft become operational in
  10. time to intercept Allied bombers, the
  11. shape of the air war over Germany might
  12. well have been a different one.

  17. box of six B-17s en route to bomb the
  18. Dusseldorf munitions factory.  The
  19. bombers are escorted by two P-51Ds.
